Craniosacral Therapy

DSC01001.JPG

Craniosacral Therapy is a fascial technique that emphasizes treatment of the dural system.  The dural system covers the brain and spinal cord and reaches into the body via the nervous system.  The techniques are gentle and profound.  When receiving treatment, releases can be felt as softening, heat, tingling and sometimes as emotion.

Craniosacral therapy is very effective at treating migraines and other headaches, chronic neck and back pain, colic, fibromyalgia, temporomandibular pain, neurovascualar disorders, immune disorders, and autism.

I first learned craniosacral techniques in 1989 while working on my master's in physical therapy. I deepened those skills while studying myofascial release because techniques to address the dural system were also taught by John Barnes. I then went deeper into my craniosacral studies by taking courses from the Upledger Institute.  I continue to study both myofascial and craniosacral therapies because there is a subtlety and an art to these techniques.  In this way, I keep my skills fresh and can best serve my clients.
