Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) involves facial and tongue exercises to treat orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMD). I use OMT to help patients restore proper posture of the tongue, re-educate facial muscle coordintation, restore proper breathing and to help address postural problems. OMD's contribute the development of crooked teeth, gum disease, teeth grinding/clenching, sleep apnea, speech problems, and jaw pain and dysfunction. OMT can be helpful as part of a multidisciplinary approach to help people of all ages resolve the problems associated with OMD's. I have done my training through the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and have studied with international educator, Joy Moeller, RDH.
